A Group Site , Single Tree Campground (site B) has been selected for the annual summer picnic.  Dates will be Thursday evening (6ish), August 15 departing Monday, August 19 for 4 nights.  The Singletree Campground is located at about 8200 feet elevation, and is about 20 miles from Capitol Reef National Park.  The campground has flush toilets, and even WiFi for a fee!  The site holds a max of 50 people.  If you'd like your own space, you can reserve a private site. (reservation.gov) More details to come on the sites we will visit, but plan on potluck dinners and lots of visiting! If you can't attend for everyday, sign-up and then let me know which days you'll attend. Or just show-up for the pot luck Saturday night.

On Thursday evening, we begin the discussion about where to go on Friday,  Saturday and Sunday. We generally choose trips after we know who is there, what they want to see, who knows how to get there, and what the weather and road conditions are. Some sites in the area require stream walking/crossing. So bring items to do this.

On each daily field trip, please bring:

  • plenty of water, lunches, snacks, electrolytes binoculars, cameras and long/short lenses + batteries for your cameras
  • two-way radios so we can discuss the landscape as we travel
  • small backpack for water, food and gear (useful for carpooling)
  • hats and sunscreen

The Saturday night potluck picnic occurs at the Singleton Campground at about 6 PM. Please bring a dish to share, as well as your plates, cups, utensils, and beverages. Chili will be by Diana and Steven.

If you have questions please contact me...

Steven
