Indian Creek and Peekaboo Field Trip

Monday 20th, ending Wednesday May 22.

    Hello Friends!
Margo Mahoney and Robert Van Orden have organized a field trip for May 20-23 in the Needles District of Canyonlands. We have reserved the Creek Pasture Group Campsite. Plenty of room. Vault toilet, pavilion, no water, no cell service. Located right off Indian Creek Road (Highway 211) roughly (15miles) past Newspaper Rock, (right turn off highway) and Canyonlands Park Entrance. Donations towards campsite appreciated.
    Itinerary:
    - Arrive at Creek Pasture Group Campsite afternoon/evening of May 20 (or camp/stay elsewhere and meet at the campsite May 21 at 8 am).
    - One day at Indian Creek and Shay Canyon, visiting sites along the main road.
    - One day hiking 5 miles to Peekaboo and Flying Carpet sites. Then hiking out 3 miles to our car shuttle. Mostly easy and generally flat terrain.
    - Depart morning of May 23

We plan on splitting the group and alternating trips. We will have options for those who cannot or don't want to do the long hike. Other possibilities include the 5 Faces in Davis Canyon and Horse Canyon, other sites in the area could be visited, if weather and road conditions allow.

Early birds can meet Robert at Newspaper Rock 8 am Mon May 20, to explore Bridger Jack Mesa sites. Email him at luv4all2634@gmail.com to confirm.

    Sounds like a Spring Picnic!
